Gentle Touch
The Power of Baby Massage – Physical closeness and loving attention are essential for a baby’s development. A baby massage is a positive physical experience, stimulating the senses, providing warmth and security – and can even help relieve tummy aches, gas, and physical tension caused by teething. In short: gentle touch has many benefits.
“A baby massage promotes the emotional and physical well-being of the baby and strengthens the bond between parents and child,” emphasizes Nancy Ludwig, Spa Manager at The Grand Green – Familux Resort in Oberhof.
This positive effect is especially valued at Familux Resorts, where the newly designed spa program “Feel Good by Familux” ensures that even the youngest guests receive special attention. The “Happy Baby Massage” was developed with leading experts, including physiotherapists and osteopaths. It is available at all Familux Resorts. Certified staff members professionally guide the massage, demonstrating all techniques on baby doll so that parents can easily apply them at home. Each session is tailored to the needs of both the baby and the parents.
“The massage has a calming effect, helps relieve colic, stimulates digestion, improves sleep, and eases both physical and emotional tension,” explains Nancy Ludwig. Treatments are available from the baby’s fourth week of life. The soothing atmosphere and warmth create the perfect setting for relaxation. “We provide the framework, but the time and process can be adapted individually,” says the baby massage expert.
A loving routine for babies - The massage consists of gentle but targeted strokes that include the head, belly, back, legs, and arms. “It’s an intense form of touch,” says Ludwig. “We always start with the feet to build trust.” The entire body system is considered, and the pressure is applied gently, slowly, and evenly. Communication happens through eye contact and facial expressions – after all, parents and babies are getting to know each other step by step.
“You quickly notice when the baby enjoys it – the reactions are immediate,” Ludwig explains. However, she also advises: “As a parent, you should truly immerse yourself in the moment. Babies can sense right away when you’re not fully present.”
Well-Being for the whole family - If digestion issues are a concern, daily massages can be beneficial. For a loving routine, one baby massage per week is recommended. Typically, 20 minutes is a good time frame, but parents should always follow the baby’s cues.
By the way, Familux Resorts also offer special massages for older children. In today’s fast-paced world, these treatments provide a valuable opportunity for children to relax, become more self-aware, and regain their inner balance. In fact, this applies to people of all ages.
